  • Who is responsible for the Sustainable Origin certification?
    The Sustainable Origin Program is an initiative of the Brazilian Association of Component Companies for Leather, Footwear and Artifacts (Assintecal) and the Brazilian Association of Footwear Industries (Abicalçados), which are currently responsible for managing the certification.
  • Which companies are certified in Sustainable Origin?
    There are more than 50 companies in the process of implementing certification in the Sustainable Origin. Meet the companies here.
  • What is the investment required to become certified in the Sustainable Origin?
    Company investment varies according to size (Micro/Small) and (Medium/Large), and also in relation to the company's negotiation with the audit stage. The initial investment is just the membership fee: R$900 for Micro/Small companies and R$1,500 (Medium/Large) It is important to note that this value is a single fee valid for two years, the duration of the certification. It can always be renewed.
  • How long does it take to get certified?
    After joining the Program, the company undertakes to request an audit and receive certification within 12 months. However, the time varies according to the time invested by the company's team in gathering the evidence.
  • What is the validity of the certificate and seal? Do I need to do it every year?
    The validity of the certification is two years. Therefore, it is not necessary to carry out audits every year.
  • Who is eligible for the Sustainable Origin Program?
    Footwear and footwear component companies may participate in the Program, as long as they are associated with one of the entities: Assintecal or Abicalçados.
  • Does Sustainable Origin certify products?
    No. This is a certification of the company's processes, and has no product scope.
  • Where do the standards for the Sustainable Origin Program come from?
    The Sustainable Origin indicators are parameterized with international standards such as SDG (UN), GRI, WRAP and the main references in sustainability and ESG.
  • What topics are addressed in the Sustainable Origin indicators?
    The Sustainable Origin program addresses five dimensions: economic, social, cultural, environmental and sustainability management.     One of the principles of the Sustainable Origin Program is transparency and, for this reason, if authorized by the company, the program will disclose company contact information, certification level a and audit score in its networks.   • Why do I need to be audited by a company accredited by the Program?
    Sustainable Origin is a serious certification and requires proper verification to provide guarantees to the public interested in the national and international market. Therefore, we seek to accredit recognized auditors to carry out audits in the companies participating in the Program, thus reaffirming our commitment and maintaining all the standards of the Sustainable Origin.
